Boo to you and you and you and you…HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
I am officially in Halloween mode! This past weekend was Fall Break for my university, and it was much needed. Every year, my boyfriend and I travel to Disney World for the weekend to attend Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party and eat our way around the world at Epcot’s Food and Wine Festival! This is our last year of undergraduate before he begins his career, and I head to graduate school, so it was a tad sentimental for me!
Let me preface this post, and say, my boyfriend, Jeremy is an absolute trooper. This is the second year he has agreed to attend the parties in costumes just to make me happy. For our first night, we went as Christopher Robin and Pooh Bear. This was a super simple costume to implement. I managed to snag all of the items we needed from Amazon. I have always had a soft spot for Winnie the Pooh, but Christopher Robin coming out this summer made me want to implement this idea even more.
Typically, I don’t recommend attending a table service restaurant when you’re attending a special ticket even because you only have so much time, and you want to get as much stuff done, but I made an exception. We ate dinner at Crystal Palace, which is a character dining where you can meet Pooh Bear, Piglet, Eeyore, and Tigger. It was one of my favorite dining locations on property, and I thought the pictures would be worth it. (They were.) Because of our later reservation, we truly didn’t get to start participating in the party until about 7:00 P.M. Since we knew, we would be attending two nights of the party we prioritized seeing the parade and fireworks for Thursday night since we knew it would be less crowded.
Once leaving Crystal Palace, we immediately went to meet Pooh Bear and his crew (yes again) in this precious Halloween costumes. Seriously, their costumes are the cutest. Plus, our interaction with the gang was great. Pooh Bear was super excited to see me dressed as him, and Tigger had a fun time picking on Jeremy trying to figure out how he grew up so fast, and how he got a fuzzy beard. It was so much fun despite the hour-long wait.
From there, we headed to Storybook Circus, to meet Minnie Mouse. I love her Halloween costume as a witch, but I will say I am disappointed. You used to be able to wait in one line to meet Donald, Daisy, and Minnie, but now you have to wait in two separate lines to meet all three. Because we were pushing for time, we chose to meet Minnie and passed on Daisy and Donald Duck.
We headed to Tomorrowland to ride Space Mountain. A new offering at the Halloween Party this year was a Halloween layover for the attraction. Basically, they turned off all of the lights and played this rock n’ roll themed music. Unfortunately, as we were rounding the final corner the lights came on and everyone was asked to leave due to technical difficulties. We decided to cut our luck and head to get a spot for Hallowishes!. We arrived on Main Street just after the first Boo to You parade finished, and nobody was moving from their spots, so we were able to find a wide open spot right in front of the castle. I don’t know how we got so lucky, so we parked ourselves there and waited for it to start.
Hallowishes is one of the best firework shows on property. The show is all about Disney villains which is great. Also, there are 360-degree fireworks shot off several times which are amazing to watch. It is truly indescribable. Then, it was time for the best part of the Halloween party, Boo to You Parade! I love this parade because the music is so dang catchy. Truthfully, it gets stuck in my head for weeks after the party. We found a great spot on Main Street. We got a front row spot to see the Headless Horseman ride down Main Street. I’m still stuck trying to figure out the Disney Magic behind that one, and I honestly don’t think I want to know just because it’s so amazing how Disney does it. The parade is amazing because of the emphasis on Villains again. My favorite section of the parade is the Haunted Mansion. I am obsessed with the gravediggers, the ghost dancers, and the Hitchhiking Ghosts! They are to DIE for! No pun intended! Check back next Sunday for my recap of Round 2 of Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party!
